A lot has changed at Jacque's Toys & Books over the last 21 years. The business has gone from a tiny 300-square foot shop to a much larger 8,800-square foot store, teaching supplies became part of Jacque's offerings and competition sprang up everywhere. One thing that didn't change was Jacque Flagg's commitment to providing the best merchandise to her customers with service that is second to none. That's why Jacque's Toys & Books is the 2009 Readers' Choice winner for "Best Children's Store."
Jacque opened her store in 1988 to fill what she saw as a need in the community. "I started my business because at the time there was only the toy store in the mall. There was no Target, Toys 'R' Us or Walmart then."
Those stores eventually did come to town, but Jacque was able to weather the competition by offering her customers personalized service and an in-depth knowledge of her products.
Jacque has gotten to know many of her customers and those relationships are what inspire her to continue improving her business.
"I have been in business long enough to see the children of children who used to shop with me," Jacque said. "They're the next generation of customers for me."
That next generation of customers will be able to rely on the same great customer service that Jacque's current customers have come to know and love. Jacque's Toys & Books offers free gift-wrapping, and can have gifts ready for pick-up if you are in a hurry. The employees will even help you load your merchandise into your car.
Jacque's Toys & Books offers puzzles, games, toys and a wide variety of books that are creative and require children to explore their world. They also offer gift registries for children and provide local teachers with a full service supply store.
"Thank you for supporting my business all these years," Jacque said. "Shopping locally with locally owned stores is important to our economy."
